FYI, Emacs is much more customizable (Emacs Lisp is a full blown language) and somewhat more powerful than Vi/Vim. Not to mention Vi/Vim's shortcomings and long standing problems. If you are able to type blindly try it! if not, don't bother, it is no use for 2-finger typists. It has a very steep learning curve, but once mastered, it can move mountains with very few and comfortable keystrokes.
